Abstract
1,148,520. Insulating conductors by extrusion. SIEMENS A.G. 12 Dec., 1966 [10 Dec., 1965], No. 55642/66. Heading B5A. [Also in Division H1] The insulation supplied to a conductor 1 at extrusion head 3 is cross-linked as the insulated conductor is drawn upwards through a column of hot liquid in the thermally insulated pipe 5. By-pass 7 with thermostat 8 enables the liquid to circulate past heaters (not shown) to maintain a constant pressure head at constant temperature. Section 11 is for cooling and if necessary cool air may be supplied through pipe 12. Cross-linkable polyolefines or rubber may be used as insulation and the liquid may be triethylene glycol, glycerine or Wood's metal.
