[Also in Division F4] An evaporator for low-boiling liquids, e.g. helium, hydrogen or nitrogen (see Division F4) comprises a casing 2 which has been shrunk on to a sintered metal packing 1. The evaporator is made by heating the casing to 150‹ C., inserting the packing which has been cooled to - 200‹ C., and allowing the parts to reach room . temperature. The casing may be copper and the packing copper, brass, silver or aluminium.
