Abstract
1,147,945. Extruding. COMPAGNIE DU FILAGE DES METAUX ET DES JOINTS CURTY (CEFILAC). 22 April, 1966 [22 April, 1965], No. 17770/66. Heading B3P. [Also in Division C7] In the hot extrusion of a metal or alloy billet 1, the leading end thereof is pre-formed into frusto-conical shape and is surrounded by lubricant 2 within the billet container. The lubricant is preferably introduced as rings of agglomerated glass powder, fibre-glass or multicellular glass. Instead of machining the front surface of a billet of highly deformation resistant metal or alloy, a frusto-conical element of carbon steel may be fixed to the front of a plain cylindrical billet. An example is given for extruding a nickel alloy using 3 rings of agglomeated glass lubricant.
