Abstract

[Also in Division F1] A liquid or powder is propelled from a dispenser 10 by fluid pressure in a chamber 34 acting on a malleable cup-shaped diaphragm 12 with a plurality of annular folds 40, 41 to cause the diaphragm to turn insideout. The malleable material, e.g. alumin- .ium, steel or nickel, of the diaphragm 12 is permanently plastically deformed on complete expulsion of the liquid or powder through the valve 28, 29. The diaphragm (12"), Fig. 4 (not shown), may .be folded to provide a plurality of adjacent tubular walls (50, 54, 56) in its undeformed condition. The diaphragm (12'''), Fig. 6 (not shown), may be formed by a number of interconnected tubular portions (61) of increasing diameter from the closed end of the diaphragm. The fluid pressure in the chamber 34 may be produced by a liquefied gas, chemical combustion or by forcing liquid or gas into the chamber from an external source.
