Abstract
1,146,951. Image pick-up tubes. FERNSEH G.m.b.H. 16 March, 1967 [16 March, 1966], No. 12490/66. Heading H1D. In a storage electrode assembly for an imageorthicon pick-up tube, a mesh electrode 1 is supported from an imperforate storage target of semi-conductive material by elements 2 of insulating material which are formed by evaporating the insulating material through a foraminate mask on to that side of the mesh 1 which in the complete assembly confronts the imperforate storage electrode target. Electrostatic attraction holds the mesh 1 and insulating elements 2 into contact with the storage target. The foraminate mask may be a mesh of similar structure to mesh 1 and may be held during the deposition of the insulating elements 2 at an angle of 45 degrees to the mesh 1. Insulating elements 2 may be of barium fluoride BaF 2 , and may be from 2-5 Á thick. In alternative arrangements the foraminate mask may be a mesh with smaller apertures than those in mesh electrode 1, or may have an arbitrary distribution of apertures formed, for example, by irradiating a glass foil with nuclear particles and etching holes at the spots where corrosion is initiated by the particles.
