Abstract

1,146,514. Printed circuit board edge connectors. BELLING & LEE Ltd. 18 Oct., 1967 [18 Oct., 1966], No. 46497/66. Heading H2E. A pair of opposed edge connector contacts 7, 8 have respective printed circuit boardengaging portions located at different heights and portions 15 to limit their movement into the circuit board slot by engagement with the insulating body 1. Such contacts are mounted in rows, each of which comprises contacts 7, 8 arranged alternately, terminal tags 17, 16 on the contacts 7 and 8 being located, respectively, adjacent outer walls and the central part of the body 1. As shown, each contact 7, 8 has a retaining notch 12 which engages a central partition 13 of the body 1, each contact being located in a channel of T-shaped cross-section (3, Fig. 2, not shown) with transverse shoulders 15 engaging walls of the channel and the printed-circuitry engaging contact portions projecting into a central board-receiving slot 2. In a modification (Figs. 4-6, not shown), retaining notches (22) are formed on the outer side edges of the contacts and each contact has only one transverse shoulder (25) engaging a wall of a contact-housing channel.
