Abstract

1,146,121. Container closures. RICHARD LONSDALE-HANDS ASSOCIATES Ltd' 1 Feb., 1968 [3 Feb., 1967], No. 5428/67. Heading B8T. A container closure comprises a plug member 2 push-fitted into a container neck 1 and provided with an outlet passage 9 offset from the axis of a central boss 6; a valve member 12 having an axial discharge passage 13 is mounted on the boss 6 by co-operating three-start threads 14. When the valve member 12 is screwed down the surface 11 of the boss 6 seals against the corresponding surface of the valve member 12 preventing fluid discharge, a fluid path between the passages 9, 13 being provided when the member 12 is unscrewed with complete removal prevented by engagement of the flanges 8, 16. In a modified embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the plug member (2) is formed as a socket with a plurality of offset outlet holes (9) in a thin transverse wall. The valve member is screwed to the plug member (2) and the socket forms a sump from which excess liquid may drain back through the holes (9).
