Abstract
1,145,990. Automatic temperature control systems. CHURCHILL INSTRUMENT CO. Ltd. Nov.23, 1967 [Dec. 2, 1966], No.53981/66. Heading G3R. [Also in Division F1] A temperature control system has separate pumps 1, 22 for "hot" and "cold" liquid circulating circuits combined into one housing so that hot liquid can only leak into the cold liquid thus the pump needs only "cold" seals. The hot pump 1 circulates oil through an electric heater 3, 4 into parallel systems 11 heating die halves 7, 8 which oil is returned to a reservoir 14 having a water cooler 15. The second pump circulates reservoir oil through a two way spool valve 24 which returns oil directly through a conduit 25 and indirectly through a conduit 26 to mix with return oil from the die halves. The heater 4 is controlled by a dual contact thermometer 31, one contact of which cuts off the heater current at say 300‹C., and the other contact, set at a higher temperature, say 310‹C. energizes a solenoid valve 28 operating the spool valve to divert oil into conduit 26. The die halves may operate at different temperatures. The low return oil temperature, prevents steam formation in cooler 15, a low water pressure switch 18 on the coil cut off the heater current.
