Abstract

1,145,819. Valves. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. 11 May, 1966 [12 May, 1965], No. 13554/68. Divided out of 1,094,231. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F1] A valve controlling outflow of pressure fluid through circumferential apertures 34 in a vessel wall comprises an annular strap 28 having adjacent end portions connected to a pair of cams 29 on an operating shaft 30 for contracting the strap to open the valve. Normally the fluid pressure holds the valve closed. As shown, the device constitutes a bleed of a gas turbine compressor in which a late stage communicates through holes 23 with a chamber 24. The wall of an apertured subchamber 25 retains the strap on the inside and there is a manifold 22 on the outside. A raised seating lip is provided round each aperture 34.
