A cushion assembly comprises a plurality of sinuous springs 14 spanning a rectangular frame 12, each spring 14 being clipped, at 26, to a frame side 16 at one end and being supported at its opposite end by a cantilevered spring steel strip 30 secured, at 36, to the opposite frame side 16. The free end of the strip 30 has an upwardly open pocket 40<SP>1</SP> to receive the terminal straight portion 24<SP>1</SP> of the spring 14, the latter being reversely bent at this end. The straight portion 24<SP>11</SP> of the spring at the bend is engaged beneath the strip 30. The inner, upper corner of the frame side 16 is rounded, at 40.
