Abstract
1294964 Spring upholstery SLUMBERLAND GROUP Ltd 27 July 1971 [28 April 1970] 20223/70 Heading A4M A spring assembly for seats or the like comprises a spring unit comprising coil springs 20 inter-connected in rows by helical wires 22, border frames 23, 24 in opposite main faces of the unit, and U-shaped wire stiffeners 29, 30 having their bases 29 secured to the frames 23, 24 and their limbs 30 engaged within the helical wires 22, the springs 20 being unattached to one or other of the frames 23, 24 whereby at one or other main face the limbs 30 may move within the wires 22 under load on the unit. The springs 20 may be individually formed or may be formed in rows from a single wire. The free ends of the limbs 30 may overlap and may be bent at 90 degrees to extend radially through the helical wires 22. Alternatively the limbs 30 may overlap a subsidiary stiffening wire disposed in a helical wire 22 intermediate its ends.
