Abstract
1344094 Spring upholstery WEBSTER SPRING CO Inc 19 April 1971 [14 Dec 1970] 9910/71 Heading A4M [Also in Division F2] A box spring assembly includes a border wire (18), Fig. 1 (not shown) to which is connected a grid comprising spaced pairs of longitudinal and transverse wires 22, 20 interconnected at their crossing points and defining a plurality of rectangular seats for the upper ends of coil springs 12, at least one pair of opposite sides of the rectangular seat being formed with U-shaped. depressions 28 and being spaced apart at a distance which is less than the diameter of the adjacent circular end turn of a spring 12, and the spring end turn being formed with two diametrically opposed, reversely bent segments 38 the inner extremities of which are spaced apart a distance less than the spacing of the wires with the depressions 28 so that the spring segments 38 may be sprung into the depressions 28. The segments 38 lie in the same plane as the associated end turn. In another embodiment Fig. 8 (not shown) the end turn is formed with four inwardly bent segments which engage the wires forming the seat on all four sides.
