Abstract

1,142,108. Linear motors. H. HOLM. 4 Aug., 1967, No. 35862/67. Heading H2A. A linear motor 32 has a laminated stator member 50 with slots 52 for accommodating windings 34, 36 which are connected to supply 40 through switch 38 and are encased in insulating material 30. A laminated yoke member 60 is spaced from stator member 50 to define a passage 30A in which is situated rotor member 26 of electrically conducting material. Rotor 26 is provided with end flanges 26A which bear on yoke member 60 to guide the rotor and also act as eddy current return paths thereby improving the motor efficiency. Opposite directions of movement are obtained depending on whether winding 34 or 36 is energized.
