Abstract
1,036,401. Bearings. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. April 8, 1963 [March 20, 1962], No. 10565/62. Heading F2A. [Also in Divisions B8 and H2] In an electric motor having a ferromagnetic linear stator 26, 27, a co-operating electrically conductive moving member 62 is constrained to ve in the greater dimension of the stator by the provision in stator slots 65 ... 68 extending in the said direction of at least one pair of conductor groups through which 1-pH A.C. is passed in opposite directions in the conductors of each group. The groups in the embodiment shown are formed by a particular winding of a single conductor, and coils 28, 29, 60, 61 and possibly end stops or springs are provided to automatically reverse the member 62. The motor may also levitate the moving member, and in Fig. 14 (not shown) a tube is conveyed by two mutually inclined stators. In another embodiment the two laminated stator parts can be moved apart to accommodate plates of different width.
