Abstract
1,182,957. Linear motors. ROTAX Ltd. 24 Jan., 1969 [25 Nov., 1967], No. 53712/67. Heading H2A. In a linear induction motor comprising a housing 10 within which is located a series of axially-spaced coils 11, Fig. 1 (not shown), separated by individual stator laminations, the latter are non-continuous in the circumferential direction to prevent the flow of eddy current. Each lamination may comprise two semicircular portions 17, 16 separated by an air gap 18 and mounted within the housing by interengaging lugs 19 and grooves 20. Alternatively, each lamination may have a slot extending from a central aperture, through which the movable member of the motor extends, to its outer periphery. The laminations may be of circular, square or rectangular shape.
