Abstract

1,141,800. Reciprocating pumps; tube compressors. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. Aug. 17, 1966 [Aug. 31, 1965], No. 37120/65. Headings F1A and F1N. A variable delivery peristaltic pump comprises an elastic tube 1, which is flattened against an anvil 2 in a sequence to provide a pumping action by valve members 7 and 8 and a pumping member 4, member 4 being tapered at 6, and the tube and anvil assembly being movable longitudinally of member 4 by a knob 26 acting through pinions 23 and racks 22, so that different widths of member 4 engage the tube to vary the delivery. Valve members 7 and 8 are shaped to follow the tapered edges of member 4. The pumping and valve members are actuated against springs by cams 12, 13 and 14 driven by a constant speed motor 9, and acting through cam followers 16, 17 and 18, the pumping and valve members being pivoted on a shaft 19. A scale 27 indicates the position of the tube, and hence the delivery.
