Abstract

The pump is worked by an electromagnet (1) which displaces a plunger (3) to the end of which is attached a relatively thick deformable membrane (4). The working chamber (5) is annular and on the pumping stroke the membrane is forced down into this being deformed in the process. When the magnetic force is released the elasticity of the membrane returns it to its starting position and provides the suction stroke of the pump. Liquid enters through a central inlet non return valve (7) with a disc (8) covering a number of inlet openings (9, 10) and leaves through a discharge valve (6). The construction enables more accurate metering than a pump with a thin membrane which is liable to permanent distortion.
