Abstract
1,141,585. Door locks. SOC. ARMETAL. 21 June, 1967 [29 June, 1966], No. 28655/67. Heading E2A. A lock, especially for doors of cold rooms, comprises a sliding latch bolt 3, urged by a spring 4 to engage in a notch 9a formed in a keeper 9, the bolt being withdrawable from the notch by a barrel lock 5, the keeper.being rotatable in a bore 11, formed in the door frame M, by means of a handle 17 located inside the cold room, rotation of the keeper from the locked position shown causing the notch to be rotated away from the bolt so that the latter bears on an unnotched part of the keeper, whereupon the door may be pushed open from inside the cold room. On rotating the keeper, movement of the bolt 3 is permitted by a lost motion connection (recess 8 and lug 7) between the bolt and the barrel of lock 5. The handle is secured non- rotatively to a square-sectioned rod 12, having threaded edges which engage in a tapped bore 15a, so that movement of the handle to the door-unfastening position results in an axial shift of rod 12 towards the bolt. Rod 12 is secured to the keeper through the intermediary of a sheath 13, e.g. of polyethylene, to reduce heat losses through the door. The lock casing 1 is secured to a plate 2, Fig. 2 (not shown), which is in turn screwed to the door P, no screw being accessible when the door is closed.
