Abstract

114,111. Watts, C. J. Sept. 26, 1917. Lubricant diffused in gas.-Air or gas or a gaseous mixture, moistened with lubricating-oil, with or without water, is supplied to an engine from a liquid-container e fitted with a pipe g, f supplying engine exhaust, a pipe i' leading from the air space at the top of the engine radiator, and a pipe k leading to the induction pipe or combustion chamber. The pipes g, i<1> are fitted with cocks and the air pipe i<1> leads to a nozzle i within the exhaust pipe f. A cock j may admit atmospheric air to the nozzle i. The container e is preferably of glass and secured in an air-tight manner to a bracket a upon the dashboard of a car, and has a dished gauze or the like l covering the outlet to the pipe k. The vessel e may be re-filled through either of the tubes g, j or through a separate inlet. The oil in the vessel e serves to lubricate the engine valves and pistons. The Provisional Specification states also that mixture from a carburettor may be passed through the liquid-container.
