Abstract

114,051. Shanker, H. March 31, 1917. Eye instruments.-An eye speculum comprises a frame A formed of two semi-circular or semi-elliptical members hinged together for folding and opening along a diametral line C, each member carrying a projecting hook B for engaging with the edge of the corresponding eyelid. The speculum is folded, laid upon the eye with the hinges near the outer and inner canthi, and one hook inserted beneath the corresponding eyelid. The instrument is then rotated until it again lies upon the eye in the opposite position, ready for the insertion of the second hook under the other lid. The advantages of the construction in cataract and other operations are stated, and Specification 11426/01 is referred to.
