Abstract

Travetting ropeway conveyers.-To detach a carrier from the travelling cable in an aerial ropeway, a shunt bar or member j is slidably mounted on the compensating lever b pivotally mounted on the spindle c and carrying the porter wheels d for the rope c. When the shunt bar is raised into the position shown, the lower end of the inclined portion I is disposed above the rope so as to enable the wheels n of the carrier to engage and travel thereon, the rope grips p being gradually withdrawn from the rope c. The carrier finally rests in the central depressed portion m of the shunt and can be unloaded and transferred to another rope or pushed down the opposite slope to re-engage the rope. The shunt bar may be raised by depressing a lever p' pivoted at q and carrying a wheel engaging a part s on the shunt.
