Abstract

1,139,220. Valves. GASKELL & CHAMBERS Ltd. 3 April, 1967 [19 April, 1966], No. 17042/66. Heading F2V. [Also in Division G3] Dispensing valve for beer comprises a body 10 which may be moulded in synthetic resin, and a valve member 17 defining with the body an annular conical passage 15 tapering from the inlet end 16 toward a seat 18. A re-entrant channel 19 is formed round the seat to effect a flow reversal before the outlet 14 with the object of avoiding undesirable frothing or foaming. The valve member is connected to a diaphragm 20 and opens under inlet pressure. The diaphragm is vented to atmosphere through holes 21a, 26a. A loading spring 22 is adjustable by a threaded member 25 and the lift is limited by an adjustable stop 24. The spring 22 may be replaced by a magnet and armature connected to the body and closure member. The diaphragm may be replaced by manual operating means.
