Abstract
1,137,987. Gas fuelled lighters. KANAMARU SHOTEN Ltd. 13 Jan., 1967 [21 Jan., 1966], No. 2035/67. Heading F4F. A gas deflecting arrangement for use with gasfuelled lighters comprises a nozzle 10 having perpendicular bores 12 and 16, and a body 20 mounted for axial movement between two positions on the nozzle, said body having perpendicular bores 26 and 30 such that when in one of said positions bores 16 and 26 are aligned to give a horizontal flame and when in the other said position caused by an upward movement of the body there is communication between bores 12 and 30 to give a vertical flame. Furrow 36 and protrusion 38 prevent relative rotation between the nozzle 10 and body 20. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 (not shown), the bore (12) is blind and bore (16<SP>1</SP>) aligns with bores (26) and (34) in the body (20) to provide the alternate flames.
