Abstract

1,137,531. Shaping brush bristle tips. LA BROSSE ET J. DUPONT REUNIS. 25 Feb., 1966 [15 Mar., 1965] , No. 8481/66. Heading A4K. [Also in Division B3] In a method of rounding the tips of brush bristle by grinding, the tips are given a first roughing out treatment on an abrasive corrugated surface 5. The chrome plated surface 5 is formed with eccentric corrugations 6 and is roughened by sand blasting. Disc 7 rotates about axis B, while the brush 1 is turned about axis A, by motor 4. In a second finishing stage, the disc 7 is replaced by a similar disc (10) having blunt needles (12), which impinge at high speed on the bristle tips. For deburring the roughed out tips, the needle ends (13) are sand blasted and, for burnishing the de-burred tips, the needle ends (13a) are polished.
