[Also in Division F4] The frame for a sashless sliding window comprises four similar profiled frame members 6 mitred at their ends and secured as by welding, each member presenting two parallel U- shaped grooves engageable by the sashless panes 14, the top and bottom rails providing the runner tracks, and panes 14 in the closed condition have their inner vertical edges in alignment perpendicularly to the panes and there is provided in the location of said inner edges of the panes 14 and midway between the runner tracks, a profiled bar 27 which is rotatable about a vertical axis 28 and has on each side of said axis resilient plastics lined U-shaped channels 29 whose open sides face respective pane edges, the bar 27 being provided with locking means. These latter comprise lock rods (40 Fig. 7) which pass into holes 42 in the flanges 7 of the top and bottom frame rails and are operated by a two part relatively sliding manually operated handle 30 to which the lock rods 42 are attached, or alternatively by a balanced rack and pinion mechanism (Figs. 10, 11, 12 not shown). The parts 30 (31) of the handle 30 are provided with locking and unlocking arresting means (Figs. 5-7 not shown). The grooves of all the frame members are lined with plastic linings 12 provided with sealing lips. The runner tracks have continuous or intermittent load bearing strips 19 of longitudinally curved form with similar devices in the top rail and stiles. A permanently fixed bar 27 may be provided between adjacent pairs of panes. The frame constituted by bars 6 is mounted in wooden frame 1, which in turn is mounted in wooden frame 4 with a space between the top members 1<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>1</SP> Fig. 2 to form a ventilator (see Division F4).
