Abstract

113,638. Tulloch, T. G. Feb. 23, 1917. Butt joints for pipes, engine cylinders, inspection covers, &c. The jointed members are each formed with an annular recess in which a hard but resilient metal-capped ring is placed. Fig. 1 shows a pipe joint in which a steel ring C is placed in the recesses B. The ring is thicker in the middle than the sides. A small annular lip a<2> may be provided. In Fig. 2 is shown the joint between the inspection cover and body of an internal-combustion engine cylinder.
