Abstract
1,135,022. Electrolytic production of cutting edges. WILKINSON SWORD Ltd. March 16, 1966 [March 30, 1965; June 17, 1965], Nos.13324/65 and 25633/65. Heading C7B. The cutting edges of razor blades are electroformed or electro-finished using an electrolytic cell having anode and cathode in which the electric current flows through a liquid medium in its passage from the anode to the razor blade. The cell may be such that the razor blade strip is guided through the cell without physical contact between the blade and the cathode or anode. In the form shown the blade is passed through a housing 10 which forms the cathode and has positioned therewithin anode strips 14 and screening masks 12 of non-conductive material which prevent direct flow of current between anodes and cathode. The anodes used may be of lead, graphite or may be plated with rhodium, gold or iridium, e.g. rhodium-plated copper or platinum-plated titanium.
