A resistance heater comprises a resistance wire 1 surrounded by insulation 2, e.g. asbestos or glass fibres and enclosed in a seam welded corrugated metal sheath 3. The resistance wire may be wound on a core. The metal sheath is made of stainless steel or copper and the corrugations are helical about the axis of the sheath. The corrugations make the heater more flexible.
