Abstract

1,134,375. Locking nuts. UNITED-CARR Inc. 4 Aug., 1967 [31 Aug., 1966], No. 35852/67. Heading F2H. A locking nut is formed by applying a patch 16 of a solvent base liquid adhesive to the surface of the threads 14 and coating the adhesive with a lubricant such as paraffin wax. The adhesive may comprise a vinyl-phenolic compound which is flowed on to the threads in liquid form. The solvent is then removed by drying before curing takes place in an oven for 10-20 minutes at 180-200‹ C. After cooling, the nuts are treated with a paraffin wax solution to smooth out the torque resistance and are then air or force dried.
