A stator, for an electrical machine, as described in the parent Specification, wherein the cylindrical yoke comprises two interconnected parts (18a), (18b) each part having half the salient polepieces permanently secured thereon. On assembly the coil, which is formed as disclosed in the parent Specification, is axially moved to lie against the rounded ends of the polepieces in one yoke part and is secured by axially sliding the second yoke part on to the first so that the rounded ends of these polepieces contact the coil.
