[Also in Division B5] A method for ornamenting a wooden object comprises treating the wood with a press means, the surface of the press means facing the wood being furnished with a layer of a soft elastomer such as rubber, the pressure of the press means being set so that only the soft parts of the wood are depressed thereby bringing forth the natural graining of the wood. The wood may be preheated prior to pressing, and the press means may be heated. The surface of the wood may be irregular. Before or during the press treatment, the wood may be brought into contact with a gold foil coated with a layer of adhesive material. The depressions in the wood may be rendered permanent by coating the wood with a prepolymerized, quick hardening plastics before or after the treatment with the press means. In Fig. 1, a support roller 4 is rotatably mounted on frame 1, and is driven by motor 2. Press roller 5 furnished with an elastic material 6 on its surface is rotatably mounted on frame 1 above support roller 4 by bearing tube 21 lying within bearing sleeve 7. Press roller 5 is horizontally adjustable in sleeve 7 and sleeve 7 is movably arranged on positioning plate 9 by means of adjustment arm 11 and lever arm 22 which are located on opposite sides of positioning plate .9. Plate 9 is constructed with two locking devices 10 comprising each a bolt and reversible washer 23 for setting the angle of roller 5. A spring device 12 in the form of a spring load screw is mounted on the lower part of adjustment arm 11, and acts against positioning plate 9 thereby providing the adjustment means for microsetting of the pressure of the press means. Press roller 5 is heated by heat lamp 20. After setting the pressure of the press means to bring forth the desired degree of graining, material used for ornamenting the wood is drawn from adjustable holder 19 and contacted with press roller 5 and inserted in between rollers 4 and 5 in contact with the wooden object, say a picture moulding.
