Abstract

1,132,374. Process fluid heaters. FOSTER WHEELER CORP. 23 May, 1966 [29 June, 1965], No. 22947/66. Headings F4A and F4S. A processs fluid heater has a row of vertical tubes 41 extending through a chamber 23 into which burners 31 fire. The tubes 41 are suspended by a weight and pulley arrangement 49 at their upper ends to allow for expansion, and supplied with fluid from a header 45 through flexible connectors 46. Each tube is formed at its lower end with a reduced diameter portion (63) (Fig. 3, not shown) which projects into a lower horizontal collecting header 44, and is provided with perforations (65) which allow the fluid to pass from the tube to the header, whilst still retaining any catalyst in the tube. A row of extension-pieces (67) with removable end caps 71 also project into the header 44 to nearly abut the end of tubes 41, whereby catalyst may be removed or inserted. A process fluid outlet tube 70 is connected to the centre of the lower header 44.
