Abstract

[Also in Division B3] Apparatus for testing and correcting the weight of a manufactured part 1 by partly or completely removing an accummulation of surplus material with which the part is provided comprises a weighing machine 2 and a machining tool 3 arranged in such a way that the part 1, when supported by the weighing machine 2, adopts a position above the machining tool 3 in accordance with its weight, the part 1 being then held in this position and the tool 3 advanced against a stop 4 to machine the part 1 by an amount to correct the weight of the part to a desired value. The weighing machine 2 which includes an adjustable weight providing sensitivity adjustment may comprise a beam 8 which is pivotally mounted and provided with a counterweight, an eddy current brake damping device 9, and an optical weight indicating device 10. The machining tool 3 may be a milling cutter.
