Abstract

1,131,998. Sanitizing compositions containing chlorine-release agents. FMC CORP. 3 July, 1967 [11 July, 1966], No. 30502/67. Heading A5E. A solid sanitizing composition comprises a chlorine releasing agent which releases chlorine in aqueous solution, and hexachlorobenzene in amount sufficient to retard the dissolution of the composition. Specified chlorine releasing agents are trichloroisocyanuric acid, dichloroisocyanuric acid, dichloromethylhydantoin, tricholoromelamine, hexachloromelamine, chloramine-T, chloramine-B and tetrachloroglycoluril. Optional ingredients are water softening agents (e.g. polyphosphates), wetting agents, stain removers, soda ash, caustic soda, sodium orthosilicate, sodium metasilicate, trisodium orthophosphate, colourants and perfumes. The compositions find application in sterilizing industrial water supplies and water storage units, and in urinals and bathrooms.
