[Also in Division E1] A machine for the continuous production of cast concrete members e.g. wall panels or flooring slabs, comprises a circular endless track or a pair of circular concentric endless tracks along which respectively a single series or two parallel series of casting surfaces, carrying removable mould wall members, is continuously displaced past a number of work stations. The casting surfaces may comprise a plurality of segmental plates joined together to form a continuous ring and carried on a frame, which ring and frame may be divided into sections separated by an expansion joint; the frame may be provided with rails in contact with wheels mounted on stationary bearings whereby one or more wheels are rotated by a motor (Fig. 20, not shown) or the frame is rotated by the engagement of a ring gear around the outer circumference thereof with a motor-driven pinion (Fig. 16, not shown) or, alternatively, the frame may be provided with wheels, one or more of which are driven (Figs. 18 and 19, not shown) by motors which are fed with current from a trolley on a power line parallel to the truck. As applied to the construction of a sandwich-type wall panel, the working stations perform the following operations: (1) cleaning of the casting tables; (2) positioning and adjusting of the mould walls; (3) oiling of the moulds by a series of overhead sprays (Fig. 3, not shown); (4) depositing a plaster layer (Fig. 4, not shown) by hose feed from a double impeller-wheel feed; (5) depositing an insulating layer of expanded clay concrete (Fig. 5, not shown) from apparatus comprising an elevator feed of different aggregates into storage bins from which they are conveyed by feed regulators or weightbatchers to a continuous mixing apparatus from whence the mixture is discharged into the moulds by an endless conveyer belt positioned transversely to the direction of mould movement which is provided with simultaneous reciprocating movement along its length and about an axis perpendicular to the mould (Fig. 6, not shown); (6) deposition of a layer of non- insulating concrete and reinforcements; (7) depositing facing material e.g. washed gravel, coloured concrete, mosaic, millstone grit or facing bricks and which, for washed gravel, comprises feed buckets suspended from an overhead gantry (Fig. 7, not shown) which are reciprocated transversely to the direction of mould movement and are equipped with electromagnetically operated feed vibrators (Figs. 9 and 10, not shown). (8) Washing of the upper moulded surface from which the flow of water to drain is facilitated by inclination of the truck transversely to the direction of movement (Figs. 11 and 15, not shown); (9) drying by passing the trucks through a drying tunnel (Fig. 12, not shown) provided with heating means (not shown), which tunnel may be above or wholly or partially submerged below ground level; (10) washing at a similar station to (8); (11) dismantling of the moulds; (12) removal of moulded products by overhead lifting tongs which are movable transversely to the direction of mould displacement.
