Abstract

1,131,547. Controlling reactors. BROWN BOVERI/KRUPP REAKTORBAU G.m.b.H. 29 June, 1966 [1 July, 1965], No. 29295/66. Heading G6C. In a nuclear reactor power plant, a negative temperature coefficient of reactivity is provided and reactivity control is effected by variation of the reactor coolant inlet temperature. The reactor coolant gas is circulated through a steam generating heat exchanger. A heat exchanger feed water heater may be used or heating of the feed water effected by steam tapped from the turbine low pressure stage. The reactor coolant exit temperature may be maintained constant by the adjustment of the coolant inlet temperature. Rapid alterations of the reactor coolant temperature, as hence also the reactor power, may be effected by throttling the coolant flow.
