Abstract
1,130,885. Fluidic gates and oscillators. SOCIETE BERTIN & CIE: 12 Nov., 1965 [18 Nov., 1964], No. 48120/65. Heading G4P. [Also in Divisions G3 and H2] In a fluid system for generating A.C. current by magnetohydrodynamic conversion, gates comprise a supply passage 6 which splits to form two discharge passages 7, 8. In one form, Fig. 2, control nozzles 9, 10 may be disposed as illustrated for causing, by pressure or suction, deflection of the fluid flow from one to the other of passages 7 and 8. If the fluid is e.g. a conductive gas (see Division H2) polepieces of electromagnets may be used instead of nozzles 9, 10, Figs. 3 and 4, to provide an inductive control of the ionized fluid by creating eddy currents which cause change over of the flow from one passage to the other. If the energizing current is maintained, the flow oscillates continuously between the two discharge passages.
