Abstract

972,377. Hand irons. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. April 6, 1962 [April 21, 1961], No. 13302/62. Heading D1A. A liquid spray iron has a pump 10 for forcing a given quantity of liquid from a reservoir 9 into a steam generating chamber 5 so that a high velocity flow of steam flows through a conduit 20 and causes liquid in the path of the steam to be sprayed in the vicinity of the discharge 23 of the conduit. The pump 10 comprises a piston 13 operated by a push button 14, a cylinder 12 and one-way valves 17, 18. In a modification (Fig. 2 not shown) the steam conduit extends from the top of the chamber 5, and a separate conduit for liquid extends from inside the reservoir to a point adjacent the steam discharge nozzle.
