1,130,778. Friction clutches. LUK LAMELLEN UND KUPPLUNGSBAU AUGUST HAUSSERMANN. 25 Aug., 1966 [3 Feb., 1966], No. 38109/66. Heading F2C. In a motor vehicle plate clutch engaged by a diaphragm spring 12 fulcrumed at 14 on a driving housing 2, a pressure plate 5 is drivingly connected to the housing by three circumferentially spaced leaf springs 18 which abut the spring 12 and urge it into contact with the pressure plate, radial fingers 15 of the diaphragm spring being received in a disengaging sleeve 17. The springs 18 may be U-shaped, Fig. 2 (not shown), the legs extending radially inwards and connected at their ends to the housing by rivets (21), and at the base to lugs 26 on the plate 5 by rivets 19, a cut-out 22 on each spring 18 abutting the diaphragm spring 12. In Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), the leaf springs (18a) are substantially triangular with a central rectangular hole to increase flexibility. In Figs. 6-8 (not shown), the springs are formed as crank levers, the arms (20b) of which extend substantially tangentially to the plate (5). In Fig. 6 (not shown), the springs are replaced by a closed hexagonal, rectangular, or circular ring fixed in at least two places to each of the plate 5 and housing 2 respectively.
