Abstract
1,130,181. Switch contacts. HOOVER Ltd. 17 Jan., 1966 [22 Jan., 1965], No. 2960/65. Heading H1N. In a multi-pole preselector switch for use in combination with a multi-programme switch, as in a washing-machine, the moving contacts 34, Fig. 4, are mounted on the teeth 30 of a comblike member 31 of moulded insulating material. In the example, bridging contacts 34, Fig. 3, are press-fitted over tappet projections 33 of heads 32 on the comb teeth 30 which are selectively engageable by cam faces of a key plate 24, to move the contacts to an open-circuit position. The teeth 30 are backed by spring steel teeth of a comb-shaped backing-plate 40 clipped at 49 to the switch cover 41 and engaging ends 43 of the heads 32 projecting through openings 42 in the cover 41. Two of the contact members 43 used for starting the programme cycle are normally held in the open position by a spring-loaded bell-crank 57 engageable by the key-plate 24 when initially pushed beyond its normal position. The fixed contacts 26, 27 are of ''printed circuit" construction and form part of a printed circuit assembly, Fig. 5 (not shown), for the fixed contact (15) and conductor (22) for the multi-pole, multi-position selector switch 17. described in Specification 1,130,161.
