Abstract

1,129,682. Packaging liquids. E. S. & A. ROBINSON (HOLDINGS) Ltd. 30 Sept., 1966 [30 Sept., 1965], No. 41661/65. Heading B8C. [Also in Division B5] In the making of sachets by forming transverse seals 6 across a plastics tube containing liquid, the seals are made by means of an ultrasonic hammer 10, which is also effective to expel liquid from the region to be sealed. The plastics tube may be formed directly by extrusion and flattening, Fig. 1 (not shown), or by heat sealing or ultrasonic welding along seams 3, 4 two opposed webs 1, 2. The hammer 10 may have a projection 12 which forms a depression 14 providing a line of weakness whereby the sachets can be separated one from another.
