A telescopic beam for supporting floor shuttering has an outer beam member with a tubular lower boom 12 which has flattened ends 15 flush with the underside of the tube and on one of which is welded a nut for the clamping screw 20 and the ends of two tension bars 18 are welded to the end 15 on each side of the nut. Bars 18 are also welded to the other end 15.
