Abstract
1,129,123. Ball mills. GOSUDARSTVENNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY ISTITUT STROITELNYKH MATERIALOV. 1 Feb., 1966, No. 4366/66. Heading B2A. The grinding bodies 12, Fig. 2, of a ball mill are set in motion in a working chamber by a rotatable electromagnet. The cross-section of the chamber transverse to the rotatable electromagnet is elongated in the direction of throw of the bodies and the magnet is arranged to set up a field in the portion of the chamber opposite the elongate portion 10 lift the grinding bodies. As described, the electromagnet is enclosed in an armoured jacket, slots being provided for inserts 13 of a wear resisting material, is rotated on a shaft by a motor, is cooled by blades 15 and supplied with current by contact rings 16. The mill is charged by a funnel over a space 18, discharged via a hole 21 and aspirated by an impeller 23. In a second embodiment the armature 7', Fig. 3, is extended and surrounded by an armoured non-magnetic disc so as to protrude into a working chamber 8' which may thus be of small dimensions, e.g. for grinding diamonds.
