Abstract

1,129,052. Refrigerators. GENERAL MOTORS CORP. 5 Jan., 1967 [1 Feb., 1966], No. 639/67. Heading F4H. A removable partition 52 separating the freezer and storage compartments 46, 70 of a refrigerator contains an air flow duct 60 communicating with both compartments, an evaporator 72 and a fan 78. The partition comprises a block 52 of foamed insulation and a cover-plate 58, the sides of the block being formed with grooves which are slidable on flanges formed on the upper and lower edges of slots 36 in the inner liner. The centrifugal fan 78 has its axis arranged vertically and supplies air to the compartments via passages 84, 88. Block 52 has a drainage channel 92 which communicates via pipe 94 with a drain 96. A partition (Fig. 4, not shown) at the level of partition 52 is provided in the insulation space between the liner and shell of the cabinet and above this partition the insulation comprises glass-fibre 42 and an insulating gas enclosed in a bag 44. Below the partition glass fibre insulation 50 is provided. Polyurethane foam may be used in place of insulation 42 and its bag.
