Abstract
112,815. McBain, W. J., and McBain, A. Jan. 25, 1917. Power cultivation of land; ploughs.-A balance plough of the type adapted to be hauled across a field by ropes attached to anchor wagons, and in which the ploughs are carried by the main frame which is adapted to be tilted about the main wheels, has the ropes arranged to be wound up on motor-operated drums situated on the plough. The anchor wagons are shifted after each traverse of the plough by a rope q<1> secured to a fixture and adapted to be wound up on a drum q on the anchor wagon, the drum q being driven from a drum r operated by the movement of the plough. The drum r has secured to it a rope r<1>, which passes round a pulley r<2> and is provided at its end with an eye r' by which it can be attached to a slip link on the plough frame. The movement of the plough turns the drums r and q until the wagon has moved a sufficient distance for the next furrows, when the operator releases the slip link by pulling a trip cord. The rope r' is then rewound upon the drum r by a spring or by the action of a weighted rope acting upon a part s of the drum r. The drum r drives the drum q through a oneway clutch to permit this movement.
