Abstract

112,810. Smith, E. Jan. 24, 1917. Limbs, artificial.-The flexing of the knee-joint is resisted by a helical spring F mounted upon a steel rod A at the rear of the joint, the upper end of the rod being secured to a pivot B behind the axis of the joint, whilst the lower end is screwed for a nut D bearing, through the intermediary of a spring or india-rubber cushion E, upon a crosssupport G within the leg. The main spring F is confined between the support and a nut C adjustable upon a threaded part of the rod above it. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 6666/98.
