Abstract

1,127,785. Crimping yarns. ONDERZOEKINGSINSTITUUT RESEARCH. 12 Nov.. 1965 [26 Nov., 1964], No. 48203/65. Headings D1F and D1W. Thermoplastic, monofilament yarn is crimped by one or more passages under tension between two (or a series of) hard-surfaced, superposed, separable rollers, one in the form of a toothed wheel and the other smooth-faced and heated to a temperature exceeding the softening temperature of the yarn, so that the yarn is locally flattened: the flat spots thereby induced at intervals along the length of the yarn are heatset on one side only. The length of yarn between every two successive passages thereof between the rollers may be periodicaily changed.
