1,127,717. Amino-hydroxynaphthalene sulphonic acid. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 5 June, 1967 [8 June, 1966], No. 25850/67. Heading C2C. In a process for the preparation of 1-amino- 7-hydroxynaphthalene-4-sulphonic acid the hydroxyl group in the 1-position in 1,7-dihydroxy- 2-carboxynaphthalene-4-sulphonic acid is converted by methods known per se into an amino group with simultaneous elimination of the carboxy group. In the example, 1,7-dihydroxy- 2-carboxynaphthalene - 4 - sulphonic acid as a hydrochloric acid or sulphuric acid paste is heated with aqueous ammonium sulphite and after acidifying the reaction mixture sulphur dioxide is expelled with air.
