1,127,158. Axles; driving vehicles. ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN A.G. 14 Nov., 1966 [11 Dec., 1965], No. 50917/66. Headings B7D and B7H. A driven axle unit for detachable connection to different agricultural vehicles or implements comprises an engine 12, axle tubes 11 and planetary or multi-stage gear-boxes 13 each driven through a hydrostatic motor 15 from an engine driven pump 14. The gear-boxes may be pivotally connected to the axle tubes for steering purposes and an additional pump may be driven by the engine for power take-off. In Fig. 4, a pair of motors 42, 42<SP>1</SP> are mounted on an axle 41 and drive the mechanical gears 43 through hydrostatic motors 45 and pumps 44, 44<SP>1</SP>. An additional pump 48 drives a power take-off motor 49. The fuel tanks 51, 52 may be located within or upon the axle tube 41. The power take-off motors may be mounted on the axle or on the vehicle.
