Abstract
1,126,682. Valves. PYRENE CO. Ltd. 21 Jan., 1966 [21 Oct., 1964], No. 42959/64. Heading F2V. [Also in Division B1] Apparatus for supplying two liquids (e.g. water and a foam agent) in proportion comprises a tubular member 11 axially movable within a sleeve 12 mounted in a housing 1 through which one liquid, e.g. water, flows. The other liquid, e.g. foam agent, enters via opening 13 into an annular space 14 surrounding tube 11 and can enter the tube through ports 22 which overlap the space 14 by varying amounts depending on the position of the movable tube 12 which has an outlet nozzle 20. The one liquid impinges on the closed end 38 of the tube and tends to move it downstream while the reaction of the other liquid escaping through the nozzle tends to move the tube upstream until an equilibrium position is reached. A manually operated arm 27 is used to free the tube if it becomes stuckin the sleeve and pressure gauges may be used to indicate when sticking occurs.
